NEWS: Two held over assault on police claim

TWO people have been arrested after an alleged assault on two police officers in Truro.

The alleged incident took place just after midnight on Wednesday when the two officers saw an argument between a man and a woman in Quay Street.

The officers – one male and one female - approached the couple and claim they were verbally abused.

NEWS: Man gets suspended sentence for ABH

ANGRY because he had lost a ring, 26-year-old Matthew Mellow punched Anthony Inman and then kicked him hard in the groin, prosecutor Iain Leadbetter told Truro Crown Court.

Mellow, of Poltair Court, St Austell pleaded guilty on the day his trial was due to begin to assaulting Mr Inman, causing him actual bodily harm, on April 13 last.

NEWS: Shoplifter kicked and bit policemen, court told

A young woman kicked and bit two policemen who had tried to quiz her about shoplifting, a court has been told.

Anouska Sites, 21, of Killerton Close, Paignton, pleaded guilty to the attacks and the theft when she appeared before Torbay magistrates.

She was remanded in custody for the preparation of a pre-sentence report and is next due to appear in court in Torquay on October 13.

A NEWQUAY man has been jailed after a row about noise coming from a friend's flat erupted into violence.

Jake Henderson, of Pentire Avenue, was handed a four-week sentence after pleading guilty to assault by beating at Bodmin Magistrates' Court on Thursday last week.
