LACROSSE, Wis. Posted 11:13 a.m. November 20, 1998 -- The act is a gut-wrencher for
men, but a well-known self-defense option for women.
In LaCrosse, Wis. it's also a crime at times.
Yesterday, a 19-year-old woman in this west-central Wisconsin regional hub had a
first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge added to a previously filed felony battery
charge related to an Oct. 25 incident in which she kicked a man in the groin, reports
WCCO-Radio.
It all stems from a dispute near an apartment complex. According to the Online LaCrosse
Tribune, the injured man was trying to separate Jillian Olson and two of her friends away
from another girl when the attack happened.
Olson allegedly kicked the man in the groin so severely that surgery was needed
to repair a rupture. She was initially charged with felony battery and disorderly conduct, but
the sexual assault charge was filed because of the nature of the injury, writes The
Associated Press.
The first-degree charge is the maximum penalty for sexual assault in LaCrosse County
and carries a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison.
