NEWS: Two held over assault on police claim

TWO people have been arrested after an alleged assault on two police officers in Truro.

 

The alleged incident took place just after midnight on Wednesday when the two officers saw an argument between a man and a woman in Quay Street.

 

The officers – one male and one female - approached the couple and claim they were verbally abused.

 

When the police officers attempted to arrest the couple the male officer was allegedly kicked in the stomach and groin and the female officer claims to have been bitten on the hand by a dog.

 

A 45-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, both from Truro, were arrested on suspicion of assaulting the officers and public order offences.

 

The two suspects are currently being held in custody at Newquay police station.
