Another near miss

In a recent post, I discussed a “near miss”, a kick in the nuts that never happened, but could have, no should have happened.  The near misses stand out to me almost as much as the busts that occur.  The reason for this is because they allow my mind to take control of what could have happened.  I will share another “near miss” in this blog post.

I went to high school with a girl named Kelly who was two grades older than me.  Kelly had a way of letting the boys know that she wasn’t to be messed with, and that it was nothing for her to bust their balls.  The school we went to is a small town, southern school, and Kelly was true southern girl.  She drove a pickup truck, rode horses, and could hold her alcohol better than most boys (underage drink was prominent in small towns).  Kelly was also a very, very attractive girl, which I’m sure provided her with plenty of opportunities to kick a guy in the nuts.

One night a bunch of us were hanging out in a gas station parking lot.  Kelly was washing her truck when a guy named Charlie decided he was going to take the hose from her and spray her with it.  They start wrestling over the hose, and out of nowhere Kelly slams her knee into his nuts.  Charlie fell to ground cupping his junk, while Kelly ran off laughing.  She came near me and used me as support because she was laughing so hard.  You could tell she was enjoying herself.  

After Kelly stopped laughing, she looking at me and said “image this, but in your NUTS!,” and she rammed her knee into the side of my right leg.  The pain was excruciating!  She hit me so hard that I walked with a limp for the rest of the night. In the moment, I played it off like it was the last thing I would ever want, but deep down I wanted nothing more from her.  I believe it would have been one of the hardest busts I would have ever experience in my life time.  Truth be told, it’s probably best that it was a “near miss”… but I’ll never truly know.
