Male bashing vs. Female bashing

So it's been said that it can hurt a lady sometimes just as much to get bashed as it does a guy. Obviously, I don't know how accurate this is, but it does go to say that either way, there's going to be a reaction. I'd like to still imagine guys hurt more but we know women can't be ignored either. So, when it comes to portraying, is there any difference between how a guy would react vs. how a lady would react? In my mind a lady would react more subtly, maybe fold over, groan, still funny, but she'd be able to get back to things fairly quickly, a guy on the other hand would be completely incapacitated, wishing to never have to move again. So what does everyone else think, is this the right way to portray those differences, or do you think there are other ways to do it?
