I've been talking with a person or two about the idea of introducing busting to the rules of various games, much in the way that people typically shoehorn in stripping or drinking to other games.

Magic is probably my favourite game and I spend an unhealthy amount of time thinking up strategies and combos with decks and cards I don't even own or have the money to afford. Anyway, I was thinking that Magic is probably a great game to make up an elaborate busting ruleset for, considering there are so many different methods of taking advantages and winning the game.

Considering I'm not going to be sharing this idea with any of my MtG friends, I thought I might test the waters here and see how many people play or are familiar with the game before I potentially waste a lot of time coming up with a whole list of rules.

Also, does anybody else have any ideas for games that might lend themselves well to adding in busting rules of sorts?

I'm pretty familiar with MtG, if that helps any?

1v1 me bro

Yes ma'am!

1v1 planechase vaguard commander w/ scheme decks no items fox only final destination kk?

Oh bloody hell, I could never do commander well.  I just don't have a strong enough knowledge of all the potential cards in play.  Planechase is a ton of fun, though.

Also props for how many different references you threw in there.

Ay, that's not all that sad. The only sad part about that is that it's not Dimir. :P
I'd play MtG a *lot* more often if this was on offer! xD
I would learn the game of this was an offer
As to your initial question about other games pending themselves to busting being added...pick a game and it works.

Go fish - any time you guess and they don't have one, a bust happens.
Monopoly - you pay in busts rather than in money
Uno - pick up four, and four busts

Rather than simple punishments which go with events which are already bad, I think that it would be more fun to add cards which either let you pay some of the cost of something with busting or which set up a choice between busting and negative in-game things.  So for instance, cards like this:

Irascible Nymph

Creature: 3/3 Nymph

Cost: 1 Green, 1 Colorless

When Irascible Nymph comes into play, target opponent kicks current player in crotch.

Fickle Kicker

Creature: 5/3 Kicker

Cost: 2 blue

Any time Fickle Kicker is tapped, Fickle Kicker's owner will stand and target opponent will kick Fickle Kicker's owner in the groin.  If owner is unable to remain standing after the kick, Fickle Kicker is placed in owner's graveyard.

Wand of Groin Punch

Artifact

Cost: 4 colorless

When Wand of Groin Punch is tapped, target opponent takes two damage or lets controller of Wand of Groin Punch punch them in the groin.

I initially went with Magic because I was interested in how all the different benefits and disadvantages of the existing game could translate to busting punishments, but this is an idea I could get behind too. If my experiences from back in school are worth anything, then I know that balancing can be a big issue when creating custom cards, but I'm sure we could figure something out.

Another possibility could be the slight changing of keywords, I got the inspiration from this webcomic. For example Eternal of Harsh Truths' Afflict ability could read: When this creature becomes blocked, you may punch the defending player in the crotch twice.

I'm sure something could be done with the Kicker and Multikicker abilities too. :P
