Get caught up: Part One | Part Two
As she pulled into her usual parking spot Katy happened to catch a bus emptying across the lot. She was about to open the door when she noticed something unusual. The last two boys exiting were well behind the others and it looked to her like one of them was leaning heavily on the other. Squinting harder, she recognized one of them as Jack Sanders, one of the few football players she didn’t actually despise. Well, maybe despise was too strong a word, but regardless, Sanders was an okay kid. The other boy’s face was hidden, but there was no doubt he was having a hard time walking. Uh-oh, she thought, immediately realizing she might be needed even sooner than she’d expected to be. Quickly she hopped out of her car, dumped her keys in her purse, and clickety-clacked as fast as she could in her high heels toward the teacher’s entrance.
Just as Katy slipped into the chair behind her desk, a tentative knock rapped against the door of her office. “It’s open,” Katy said, her pulse quickening as she wondered if it would be the two young men she’d seen getting off the bus.
The door opened and Jack Sanders’ face peered in. “Uh, hi, Mrs. Callahan.”
“Hi Jack. Are you okay?” Katy asked, leaning forward, clasping her hands in front of her in concern.
“Uh yeah,” Jack answered, his eyes darting away from hers as if he wasn’t sure that was really the case. “But my buddy…well, he’s in some pain.”
Katy rose, smiling to herself at the way Jack’s eyes locked onto her chest. The day had barely begun and she was already being proven right in her choice of attire. She stepped around her desk motioning for Jack to come in. The door opened wider and Jack walked slowly to one of the chairs against the wall as Colin shuffled slowly behind him, staring hard at the ground. Before he could sit, Katy caught him by the shoulder and gently turned him toward her.
“Oh, Colin,” Katy said, noticing the way the poor kid was twisting his hips ever so slightly, like he was rather uncomfortable. “I wasn’t sure it was you. Are you okay?”
Colin kept his eyes on the floor, but answered quietly. “I don’t think so.”
Katy stepped back and gave Colin a once over. “I don’t see anything, and you don’t look sick. I’m going to need a little more information I’m afraid.” When Colin suddenly looked up at her, Katy almost jumped. There was a rueful glint in the boy’s eye that caught her off guard.
“Afraid of what?” He asked. His voice was still shaky but he tried to put some sneer into it anyway.
It took Katy a few seconds to process his pert response, and his widening smirk showed her how pleased he was with himself at his little joke. If he was hurting, it wasn’t even to keep him from being his usual obnoxious self, she thought. “Ha ha Colin,” she said flatly. “Seriously, though, how about you tell me what happened.” Katy folded her arms under her bosom, giving her breasts a little lift as she did, and held her gaze on Colin.
After at least ten seconds of silence, Colin finally turned toward Jack and shrugged his shoulders. Although Katy could no longer see Colin’s face, she could tell by Jack’s reaction that Colin had no idea what he should say. Jack’s shake of the head probably indicated that he wasn’t going to speak on his buddy’s behalf, either. Slowly, the wind knocked from the cocky sails supporting him moments ago, Colin turned back and thrust his hands in his pockets. All the while, Katy waited, unmoving.
“I got kicked,” Colin whispered.
“You got kicked?” Katy asked louder than she needed to, making Colin’s eyes bug out in horror. Stifling a giggle, Katy prodded. “Like in the shins?” She asked innocently, though she knew immediately where he’d been kicked.
“Uh, no,” Colin answered quickly. But then he fell silent, unable to expand any further. He already felt embarrassed, but it was almost more than he could take. For an older woman, Mrs. Callahan was pretty hot and he had plainly seen that she was looking especially so today. He just couldn’t bring himself to admit to her his balls had been kicked. And he certainly couldn’t tell her it was by a girl!
Over Colin’s shoulder, Katy saw Jack glance at his phone and shake his head. Before she could say anything, he was on his feet and heading toward her.
Ignoring the fearful look on his buddy’s face, Jack motioned for Mrs. Callahan to step to the side with him. He leaned up close to her and whispered, “We were at the bus stop and Colin got kicked in the, uh,” he paused, trying to find a word that wouldn’t get him trouble, “the gonads.”
Though she didn’t laugh, Katy couldn’t stop her lips from turning up at the corners. Whether it was Jack’s choice of vernacular or simply the fact that Colin had gotten his balls kicked, she wasn’t sure, but it was pretty funny regardless. She glanced quickly at Colin and saw that the color had drained from his face. Leaning up to Jack’s ear, she whispered back. “Tell you what. Why don’t I give you two some privacy. Have Colin take a look at his, uh, gonads – as you so eloquently put it – and see if there’s any swelling. I doubt that there is but I’ll get some ice anyway. Just open the door a crack when you’re done so I know to come in.”
Jack nodded and turned back to Colin as Katy disappeared out the door. He explained to Colin what she’d said and then turned his back so his buddy could examine himself, once again checking the time on his phone.
“I think I’m good,” Colin said, tapping Jack on the shoulder.
“That’s a relief,” Jack said, though his mind was already on first period. He needed to reread the material before it started and time was getting short.
“You can get outta here if you want,” Colin said, less out of concern for Jack than that he really didn’t want his buddy to see him icing his balls.
“Sounds good,” Jack said quickly, making a beeline for the door. “Hope everything turns out okay.”
Jack left the door open a crack and when Katy returned with a big bag of ice from the cafeteria, she eased it open a bit wider and peeked in. Colin was sitting in a chair and looking at his phone. He put it away as Katy walked over to him.
“So?” Katy asked, waving her hand toward his groin.
“There doesn’t seem to be any swelling,” he admitted, unsure of how to state the exact state of things. “They’re kinda red, though,” he added sheepishly.
“That’s good news for you!” Katy said brightly. “But I’d still recommend applying some ice for at least ten minutes,” she added, holding out the bag.
“In here?” Colin asked leerily.
Sensing his trepidation, Katy laughed airily. “Heavens no, Colin. Maybe just sit in the men’s room for a bit and then head to class. I’ll write you a note to excuse your tardiness.”
“Thanks,” Colin mumbled.
As Katy rummaged in a desk drawer trying to find the excusal pad, it occurred to her that she still didn’t know the culprit. She didn’t need to know, but curiosity killed the cat and all. “Hey,” she said, not looking at Colin. “Can you tell me who did this? I know it wasn’t on school property but there might be something we can do on your behalf. At the very least school administration should be aware so they can keep an eye out.” Other than wanting to know who did it, the rest was pure baloney, but it sounded good and Colin didn’t need to know her true motive.
Colin shifted the bag in his hand and watched Mrs. Callahan scribble his excuse. He could see right down the front of her dress and the view was amazing. She really did have some perky tits. With his brain distracted, he was unable to stop himself from answering honestly. “They don’t have to worry about it,” he said, referring to school administration. “It was just my girlfriend. I broke up with her.”
Katy looked up just in time to see Colin’s free hand fly to his mouth. So it’s true! she thought immediately and then a warm feeling washed through her as the image of Colin’s girlfriend kicking him in the balls sprang into her mind. “Oh sweetie,” she lied, tearing the page from the pad, “that’s rough. I can’t believe she kicked you there.” When she handed him the late pass, Katy made sure to look the young man directly in the eyes. Despite her sympathetic words, Colin needed to know where he stood with her. It was perfectly okay to her that his girlfriend had done what she’d done. If Katy were in Colin’s girlfriend’s shoes, she would’ve kicked him in the balls, too.
When Colin shrank away after plucking the note from her hand, Katy smiled. He’d gotten the message. She noted that he must be feeling better already as his exit was far speedier than his entrance.
She sat back down behind her desk and put her arms behind her head, searching her brain for clues for whom Colin may have been dating. Suddenly the name Missy Jenkins sprang to mind and she sat up. Missy was a pretty little thing, and a soccer player, too. A chuckle rose in her throat and Katy put a hand to her mouth. That poor boy should count his blessings that there isn’t any swelling, Katy thought. With the way she kicks, I’m surprised his balls didn’t end up lodged in his throat permanently.
Katy let her hand fall and laughed happily.

Oh, man, this is getting good! Thanks for continuing the story. I loved the teasing she did when asking about the injury. I can't wait for the nurse to do some close inspection!
