Why guys don't do balance beams

When I was in high school we had a gymnastics team – girls only.  I was always under the impression that balance beam was adopted in women’s gymnastics to replace rings in men’s gymnastics (which is an upper body strength event really not appropriate for women).  Thus the men compete in horse, rings, bar & floor where as women compete in horse (vaulting rather performing on the horse), balance beam. uneven parallel bars & floor.   If you study the male & female form its pretty obvious that in general women do have a lower center of gravity.  In highly trained martial artists this feature provides women certain advantages.   In the 4 years I did gymnastics in HS we always managed to get at least one guy on the beam to show his prowess and it usually ended with bruised nuts.  It was so easy to sucker some macho guy to his doom.   I never saw a guy that went down astride the beam not wreath in agony (high threshold of pain or not).

The girls at my high school got me to try to balance beam.  I was doing alright until sally told me to jump and spread my legs, then land on the beam.  She whispered something to the rest of the girls and they all stopped to watch me.  I jumped up, spread my legs, but I could not get my feet back on the beam.  Instead, I straddled the beam and crushed my nuts.  It was like they both got squished simultaneously by my body weight.  I fell to the ground holding my crushed balls, tried to breath, and groaned and moaned.  Sally and the girls were laughing histerically at my ball agony.  I must have laid there for 30 min holding my balls with the girls asking if my testicles were ok and giggling when I tried to answer.
