Pay the rent on time or pay

Maybe I should have seen this coming.  It was the late summer of 2001 and I was renting an duplex in Oregon.  It was hot - no AC - just fans and I like being naked indoors anyway.  There was a loud rapping on the door so I put on a t-shirt and opened the door a crack.  It was the landlady and I was two days late on rent.  I said I was sorry and went to write a check and as I turned to give it to her I realized she had come through the door with the cane she used to walk.  She was about 80 - and I noticed too late.  She whacked my nuts so hard I fell to the floor grabbing my balls and rolling in pain.  She hit me twice more - on the head and back and promised all the same if I was every late paying rent again.  Well the lease ended in five months and each month I was late.  It was a ball busting I could plan on.  She only understood that I wasn't stupid after the second month and I MUST BE GAY and she hated gays and assumed I was doing this to be punished somehow.  It worked for me.. I just found it hard to walk at least on day each month.
