My "evolutionary psychology" explanation for BB

In a nutshell (sorry), here goes my theory of the fetish, both from a male (primarily) and female perspective:

 

In general, it is evolutionarily beneficial for men to have sex with as many women as they can. This is because the costs of impregnating women and then leaving them to carry, birth, etc.. are very low.  However for women, it is very important that they choose the 'right' mate, since they have all of these burdens. This is a well-excepted principle in evol. psych and is backed up by experiments whosing men are willing to jump in the sack MUCH more quickly than women.

Now the BB part

 

If you are a man who DOES get to have sex with a woman, your primary concern is that she not have sex with anyone else. So, if a woman can prevent others she doesn't choose from having sex with her, this is a very desirable trait. Ballbusting is the most extreme form of this self-defense ability. It literally goes to the source of competition and shuts it down.

 

From a female perspective, this ability to 'choose' is very desirable too and makes sexuality less threatening since you can decide at any point, to stop your potential mate in his tracks and choose who you do want to mate with. 

 

The one part of this that doesn't quite add up is why guys would want to be busted themselves. Maybe this proves the woman has this ability if she so chooses.

I think its a little more complicated and it hardly explains why men like it. I wonder if men that Like it are a little broken and for some reason don't want to procreate. Maybe this is a way to stop the balls from working. I don't think anyone has a good theory on it yet.

It seems to me that if a woman wants to choose who she has sex with all she has to do is say no. BB isn't required unless someone is forcing himself on her.

In my opinion, a lot of the interest in ballbusting, for both men and women, comes from power. Women love that powerful feeling they get from knowing they can easily incapacitate a man and men love knowing how easily they can be made utterly helpless.  I also think that's why so many men don't like bb (besides the intense pain lol)....it makes them feel helpless.

  This is exactly the point. If a man DOES try to force himself on a woman, then she will lose her choice of who to procreate with unless she can stop him. BB ives her a way to do that and so it gives her POWER. 

I think this power is sexy to many men but also intimidating, for obvious reasons.

Yes, bb does give a woman the ability to stop a man from forcing himself on her. However, so does a gouge to the eye, a punch to the throat or a kick to the knee. It seems to me that if ballbusting were an evolutionary defense mechanism women wouldn't have to learn about it...it would be an instinct. Other traits considered to be part of evolutionary psychology such as the abilities to infer others' emotions, to discern kin from non-kin, to identify and prefer healthier mates, etc. are innate abilities.

Since rape has existed for thousands of years, it seems like if ballbusting were an evolutionary adaptation it would just be hardwired in young girls to go for the balls when they feel threatened by males. However, they usually learn about testicular sensitivity either by accidentally hitting a guy or having a someone show or tell them about it.

Not only that but the vast majority of women actually don't hit guys in the balls, not even when threatened.

For men:

I think it is not an evolutionary behavior...

I believe it is linked to a repressed memory of great fear of being castrated, as a way of dealing with that fear.

 

I've met only 2 women who liked it... one because she was sadistic and liked to inflict pain / see the effect of pain in her partner. The other one had OCD and liked to be in control.

I'm not claiming that ballbusting as a defensive technique has evolved. Rather, it's that we (men) have  a general tendency to favor women who can choose their own mates. For many of us (e.g. those of us here, right now), this proclivity is exemplified by ballbusting. Both men and women have to learn about it but once they do, it feeds into this general attraction to female power. And of course, women can and do use other methods.I for one, find the idea of a woman defending herself using non-bb methods very sexy too. BB is just the ultimate. 

In general ,the number of 'instinctive' behaviors is tiny and kicking balls is definitely not one of them. But being turned on by the sight of a woman taking down a man so easily might just be 'hard-wired'

I don't think a behavior exclusive to a minority can be ever called "evolutionary". If most men had that behavior, I might be forced to agree with you.

My girlfriend thinks that an instinctive/evolutive behavior is to seek powerful mates, and that ballbusting fetish would be a misinterpretation / extremist sexual consequence of that

Yall make it sound more complicated than it actually is. I don't think it's 'Primal' or 'Instinctual', I think we (BB fans) are a little bit crazy.

I think both of you are probably right. It's probably a deviant form of a more common tendency. Although it's hard to know how uncommon it really is. Before the web, most of us may have thought we were the only ones!
